Valley Food Shelf Coordinator Sandy Berglind (center) weighed each box carried in by Bridges Green Committee members Food Drive Helps Keep Shelves Full “Looking out for the health of your community goes beyond providing medical care,” said Shayla Henneberg, Chairperson of the Go Green Committee, a cooperative effort of Bridges Medical Center and Bridges Care Community. “You can’t stay healthy without an adequate amount of nutritious food.” Because of this fact, and with winter and the holiday season fast approaching, the Go Green Committee sponsored a food drive to support the Valley Food Shelf of Ada. Approximately 150 pounds of food and other necessities were donated by Bridges employees and friends of the facilities. Members of the committee gathered and sorted the donations into boxes and delivered them to Grace Lutheran Church in Ada, which houses the Food Shelf. Sandy Berglind, one of two coordinators at Valley Food Shelf, expressed the organization’s gratitude for the donation from Bridges as well as those from other organizations and individuals. Thanks to their collective charity and generosity, the Food Shelf has remained well stocked during this time of need. “We feel it is essential that we cherish each individual in our community and that we advocate for the less fortunate,” said Shayla. “The Green Committee was organized to help protect the world we live in. That includes looking out for each other and treating everyone with the respect and dignity they deserve.” Committee member, Stephanie Borgen added, “We hope this donation will make a difference for those going through difficult times and we are honored to be able to help support the wonderful work being done by the Valley Food Shelf.”
