Care Community Gets High
Marks
“We were given just three
minor deficiencies, all of which we easily corrected, and none
of which were related to resident care,” Cindy Scherfenberg, RN
and Director of Nursing at Bridges Care Community, said smiling.
“All of the staff are doing a great job.”
What has Scherfenberg so
happy are the results of the facility’s most recent survey by
the MN Department of Health. Every year teams of inspectors
visit each facility in the state for an intensive inspection.
Long term nursing care is highly regulated and every aspect of
resident care, nutrition, policy, staffing, and record keeping
is open to scrutiny. Every policy is expected to be followed and
every piece of paperwork in order. No deficiencies would mean
that there is absolutely no room for improvement, so having just
three minor issues or “tags” show up is an exceptional result.
“Everything that did show
up was immediately addressed and has already been fixed,”
Scherfenberg noted.
“The residents have a major
role in how we do during a survey,” said Bridges CEO Dan
Rohrobach. “Their satisfaction with the care they receive and
the environment in which they live is looked at in detail. The
residents living at Bridges are strong supporters of the
organization which became evident in the feedback provided to
the survey team.”
“I would like to commend
the staff at the Care Community for their dedication and hard
work. They have an extremely difficult job and they consistently
perform at a high level. The leadership of DON Cindy
Scherfenberg, and Medical Director Dr. Jeff Peterson, along with
all of the hard work on the part of the entire staff, has really
made a difference in bringing the mission to life.”
