Chentel Dangerud, PA-C, and Linda Bergee thank everyone who gave donations to bring the Hi-Low Exam Tables to Bridges Clinic. |
Two new examination tables will give patients with limited mobility, increased comfort and safety when they visit Bridges Medical Center Clinic. The tables were purchased through the community’s generous contributions to Bridges Foundation’s Year-end appeal which raised $7,755 of the $8,369 cost.
“I was very impressed to see the generosity of so many people,” said Bridges Foundation Partners for Progress Committee Chairperson, Linda Bergee. “The High-Low exam tables are a great addition to the clinic.”
The Brewer Access High-Low exam tables have a starting position much like a comfortable arm chair with a high back and sturdy arms. Once the patient is seated, the table can be raised and reclined to the desired position. In its top position and with the back down, the High-Lows look much like a traditional exam table except for the arm rests which now act as a safety rail which can be swung out of the way or removed as needed.
“It’s safer and more comfortable,” said Physician’s Assistant Chentel Dangerud. “It also helps protect a patient’s dignity when they can get into and out of a chair with minimal or no assistance rather than climbing or being lifted onto a tall table. It makes for a better clinic experience all around.”
Dangerud points out that, while elderly patients are the first to come to mind when discussing the benefits of the new exam tables, the High-Lows make clinic visits easier for anyone who has leg, joint, or back problems. “I can see these being a big help for a lot of people.” |
