The Emergency Medical Services staff works
not only in the field, but also in the emergency room, and several other
departments at Bridges Medical Center.
It is not unusual to see Paramedics and EMTs
working side-by-side with other professionals in
surgery, rehabilitation, the clinic, and a
variety of business, technical, and support
services. |

Norman County Emergency Medical Services provides Advanced Life Support
ambulance service to the majority of Norman County.
Two crews of paramedics and emergency medical technicians are on call
24-7 and equipped with state of the art equipment. The latest additions are
portable CPAP devices, which provide an alternative to intubation for some
patients in respiratory distress. The service’s two Braun ambulances have
dispatch-linked GPS to aid in the rapid location of addresses and remote
locations.
The role of Norman County EMS doesn’t stop at the Emergency Room door. The
EMS department is fully integrated into the Bridges Medical Center staff.
Paramedics and EMTs work side-by-side with other medical professionals in the
Emergency Room, Hospital, Surgery, Radiology, Laboratory, Clinic, and other
departments.
Bridges Medical Center and Norman County EMS provide training and support
for six first responder and rescue units in and around Norman County, as well as
Police, Sheriff’s, and Fire Departments. EMS staff teaches community education
classes in CPR, AED, and First Aid and is active in the promotion of public
safety. They work closely with other
agencies, organizations, schools, and the Dekko Community Center.

Norman County EMS provices training
programs to first responders from rescue squads, fire
departments, and law enforcement in the region. They are
also active indisaster prearednes, mass casualty, and hazardous
materials drills with other local, regional, state and national
agencies. |
